KINGMADE CUSTOM FURNITURE
I spent my career mastering the heavy side of construction—excavation and hardscapes. That same dedication to structural integrity and aesthetic design carries over into my workshop.
I believe that whether you are grading a site or joining a tabletop, the foundation is everything. My custom furniture combines rugged durability with refined craftsmanship, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces that are built to be used and designed to be seen.
Take a look at some of my recent builds below.
Oak slab coffee table
This live edge coffee table was made from a 134-year-old oak tree. I milled the slab and dried it for several years. Black epoxy fills the natural cracks for a smooth tabletop and the wood is finished with linseed.
Sitting Bench
This bench was constructed with traditional hand cut mortise and tenon joinery. The legs are made from red oak that I milled and the rails are made from black walnut that was sustainably grown and harvested in the mountains of Virginia.
Tea Table
This table was assembled using traditional hand cut mortise and tenon joinery. The legs are English walnut, made from boards that I milled myself, and the rails and shelves are made from Virginian black walnut.
Marble accent table
This table was constructed from a marble slab and 2" square steel. I cut and polished the marble tabletop by hand, attaching it to a modern, three-legged steel base. To keep the table from tipping over I filled the tubes for the base with sand before welding. This added mass to balance the heavy stone top.
Bedroom side tables
These side tables were made as part of a bedroom set. The base was made from rough-sawn twenty-five-year-old Virginian black walnut, finished in Rubio Monocoat, and topped with marble.
California king bed frame
This bed frame was made from rough-sawn black walnut milled in the mountains of Virginia. The headboard features an inlay pattern and a slight incline for comfort when sitting up. Two large built-in drawers on each side offer additional storage space.
Dresser
This dresser was made from hard maple milled and dried at my home. The delicate chamfer and inlay on each side adds subtle dimension. A quartz slab with turquoise and grey accents completes the top.
Dining Table
This large dining table is 8 feet long by 4 feet wide. It is made from Virginian black walnut and oak dowels. It has traditional breadboard ends joined through hand cut mortise and tenons that allows the wood to move throughout the dry and wet seasons to avoid cracking. The table is finished in Rubio Monocoat oil.
